Product Spotlight – Fine Art Canvas Enlargements

I have a new love.

Canvas.

Before you dismiss me as silly, hear me out.

I printed a small 8×8 canvas for my brother’s family as a Christmas gift and I was thrilled when I visited them a couple months ago and saw how well it turned out.  The edges were beautifully finished and were able to set it on a table or hang it right on the wall without a frame.  It was just a fantastic finished product.  I’ve heard the raves about canvas enlargements from other photographers, but I hadn’t yet tried an enlargement of my own.

A few weeks ago, I took the plunge.  And I’m never going back.  Bigger IS better.

First, I decided to get some canvases of family pictures to give to Diggity for our anniversary.  I was very excited when the box arrived.  And even more thrilled when I unpacked the box and saw this canvas of G-Man.

Then, I decided to hang it on the wall and see what it would look like.

I think it looks so great. I also ordered this canvas of the older kids:

Remember this baptism shoot for the Linders? Dana ordered this photo as a 20×30 canvas. I LOVE it.

The picture can be formatted so the picture itself wraps around the edge (like in the Linder’s canvas above), or I can add a solid color for a border to wrap around the edge (like in G-Man’s canvas). The edge of the canvas can even have text added.

I’ve also had some friends order my temple photos as canvas enlargements for Father’s Day gifts.  Since Father’s Day is this Sunday, I won’t name my friends here, but you have to see how the canvases turned out.

First, a 16×24 enlargement of one of my Boston Temple photos:

You can see a bit of the canvas texture in the blue sky. It’s printed right on high quality canvas, color checked by hand, stretched around the frame and finished by hand. Canvas is a bit more expensive than getting a print of the same size, but there is no need to purchase a frame and making the investment to enlarge a picture you love on canvas is a great idea. I print all my canvases with Simply Canvas. They’re a great company and I’ve been thrilled with their work and customer service.

And finally, this 20×30 enlargement of the spires of the Salt Lake Temple:

If you are interested in a canvas enlargment from a shoot we have already done or interested in buying one of the temple series as a canvas, contact me using the form at the top of my blog.  I’d love to hear from you.  If you are thinking of a canvas enlargement for an upcoming shoot, let me know.  Some photos lend themselves to a canvas enlargement more than others.  If I know a canvas enlargement is something you have in mind, I can shoot accordingly.
