Children Will Listen is my personal story, both in song and spoken word. This unique “cabaret-style” performance celebrates the women and mothers in our lives — daughters, stepdaughters, sisters, friends, teachers, wives, stepmothers, daughters-in-law and mothers.
I created this show in 2009 as a presentation for the Fusion Women’s Group in Boston, MA. Originally intended to be a one-time performance, I had the opportunity to present the show for a few other women’s groups around Massachusetts and New England. After performing for family and friends in Utah, I had the opportunity to meet with the producer of Time Out for Women at Deseret Book, and we have been working to refine the script and record a CD over the last 18 months. The CD (which includes the full presentation – all the songs and spoken word portions) was released by Shadow Mountain Records in January of 2011, and I began performing as part of the 2011 Time Out for Women Tour in February.
My hope and prayer is that as you have a chance to see the performance or hear the CD, that you will find the value in your own story. That you will see the lessons you have learned through the story of your own life, and that you might be encouraged to mother and serve the women around you – sharing your story with them.
