I'm pretty excited about today. Watching someone's dream come true is always an amazing thing. But watching someone's dream come true when you've been witness to the start of the dream, watched it develop, seen heartbreak and triumph along the way, and still seen the dream triumph? That's awe-inspiring.
My good friend Whitney's book has it's official release today. And it's publication is a dream of hers that is coming true! I've had my copy for a couple weeks (don't be too jealous), and even though I've had a chance to read it a couple of times as it's been in the writing and editing process, and I'm still learning so much from Whitney's wise words and personal story and the stories from the different contributors. (Of which I'm humbled to be one.)
(Seeing your name and words in a book is pretty amazing stuff. Not gonna lie.)
And if you read closely in the picture above, you'll see that Whitney is not only my friend, and one of my accompanists for my Time Out for Women performances, she's also the one who inspired me to create Children Will Listen in the first place. She knew I had a dream to perform in a cabaret setting where I could tell stories and sing songs that supported and deepened those stories. She encouraged me, she reminded me, and she got me started down the road to where I am today by never taking no for an answer or listening to my excuses when I would sell myself short. She's one of the best cheerleaders you could ever hope for. And she's a cheerleader that isn't afraid to thrown down her own pom-poms when she needs to in order to do what she's talking about.
Want to get started on making your dreams come true? Not sure what your dream is? Dare, Dream, Do: Remarkable Things Happen When You Dare to Dream is for you. It's a perfect gift for Mother's Day or graduation. Whitney's story is an inspiration, and the book is filled with contributor stories that range from women realizing their dream is right in front of them as they mother their families, to women who find their voice through creating, to women who start their own businesses. It's all there. And Whitney walks you through how to discover and achieve your dream - whatever that may be.
