We've had a wonderful summer, as you may have guessed by my relative absence around here. In an effort to be more deliberate about the time I spend with my kids and taking care of chores around the house, my computer time took a huge dive over the summer. Which was good, but I'm glad that I'll be around these parts a bit more frequently. Today was the big day. Our first grader started school. And the best part about all of it is he has the same teacher as last year! She was asked to move up to first grade, so we (and 95% of the class) chose to loop up with her. They're in a new classroom and have a few new students, but instead of being nervous about school starting, he's just been thrilled.
We were organized enough to walk to school this morning, and I got started on a project I worked on with his class last year - personal yearbooks. (more on that here) I did them last year with G-Man's class, and they were a lot of fun. I was able to spend time in his classroom and work with the kids, and at the end of the year, we had a photographic and written record of their progress over the course of the year. Because I knew the teacher and most of the kids, I thought we might as well get started on the yearbook project today! I was able to buy this awesome background from the amazingly talented ladies at Caravan Shoppe, and used it to take photos of all the kids today. Here is G-Man's:
Here's to a great year!
